Does your Flea and Tick Prevention plan REALLY repel fleas and ticks?

If you find ticks ON your pet when using the Rx “spot on” treatments, then your pet can still get a virus or disease transmitted by that tick before it does.

YOU CANT RISK THIS…IT’S A LIFE AND DEATH ISSUE FOR YOUR PET!!!

THE NATIONAL NEWS AFFIRMS THAT 2107 WILL BE THE WORST YEAR EVER FOR TICKS

80% of dogs tested for Lymes are positive

50% of humans tested for Lymes are positive.

JUST using a spot-on treatment is no longer “enough.”

I have to tell you, that while using flea/tick treaments given by my vet, and I tried several…I STILL found ticks on my dogs AND 3 of them were diagnosed with Lymes, and my dear Mackie passed away from kidney failure due to the Lymes disease. He made it over 2 years with the disease without symptoms, I believe, solely because I knew how to feed and supplement to support the kidneys and his immune system to fight the disease. I literally left for one week, and had someone else watching him, and he went off the regular routine I had him on (I had no idea one week would make such a difference!) and when I got home, he went down within a week. I can’t forgive myself.

(Please see our “health and nutrition” page on our website www.emlabradors.com for info on building your dogs’ immune system and feeding a species appropriate diet.)

So I cannot stress how important it is to be aggressive and intentional about guarding your dog from ALL flying and crawling pests that carry various deadly diseases, but ALSO, supporting their immune systems daily, and feeding a species appropriate diet.

PLEASE! If You Must Use a Harsh Chemical Pest Repellent, Read This Before You Do

In addition to the risks associated with spot-on treatments, I am simply not aware of any chemical-based pest control pill, dip, solution, shampoo, or collar that’s without the potential for side effects.

Just because a compound is applied to or worn on your pet’s fur doesn’t necessarily mean it’s safe. Be aware … what goes on your pet typically ends up in your pet’s system.

Fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes feed first on unhealthy animals. So the goal of preventive pest control is to bring your dog or cat to optimal health, which will make them naturally more resilient and less attractive to pests.

If for some reason you find yourself in a situation where you simply can’t avoid using a chemical pest preventive, please do your beloved dog or cat a huge favor and follow these tips to reduce the toxic risks to your pet …

  • Be very careful to follow dosing directions on the label, and if your pet is at the low end of a dosage range, step down to the next lowest dosage.
  • Be extremely cautious with small dogs, especially if you own one of the breeds reported to be at high risk for adverse reactions. And do not, under any circumstances, apply dog product to your cat.
  • Don’t depend exclusively on chemical treatments. Rotate natural preventives with chemical ones. OR, BETTER YET, USE ALL THREE FOR DOUBLE ARMOR. Since I’ve been dusting with Diatomaceous Earth each day and also using our essential oil based Flea/Tick blend, I’ve not found any ticks!!  (See our all natural Flea and Tick Formula and Flea and Tick Bundle on our “products” page) We even use it on ourselves before venturing out for a walk.
  • Monitor your pet for symptoms and adverse reactions (mentioned above in the section on what the EPA spot-on incident report revealed) after you apply a chemical product – especially when using one for the first time.

I’ve never felt completely comfortable with the various flea and tick medications over the years… between the warnings of getting it on your own skin, and having to keep kids away from them for the first 24 hours, so that they don’t touch it… you wonder how safe it really can be. So remember, if you use a spot-on treatment you ARE using a chemical pesticide on your pet…so be sure to be supporting their liver and kidneys with supplements like NuVet Plus .

Apply the essential oil blend to a bandana also, (soak it, then let it hang overnight). It will be dry by morning and you can slip that over your dog’s neck when it goes outdoors, as well as a spritz of the spray blend.
